Last weekend we attended the Irvine Animal Care Center’s 10th Annual “Home for the Holidays Pet Adoption Fair”. There were so many little fluffy guys and gals there. There was a suggested $5 per family donation to gain entry. It’s amazing how quickly those add up – about 4,000 people entered during the course of the day, raising more than $36,000 that will support the adoptable pet program there. They were able to send more than 270 pets to new permanent homes!
It’s a remarkably large facility, but with the number of volunteers who donate their time to caring for the animals, they make that money go a long way.
Let’s talk about the food trucks that were there. Belly Bombs had the most amazing coleslaw and fried tofu slider… Flavors that were unbelievably well matched. There is a short clip of their menu and phone number at 3:37 in the video. Expensive, but some of the best, most unique tasting food I’ve had in a while.
Overall, we all had a nice time getting outside and meeting some sweet animals who wanted attention and forever families. At 3:50 in the video, I list the vendors and rescues the participated in the fair. If you have the luxury to help out any of the shelters listed, please do! They are always looking for help.
The 11th Annual Home for the Holidays event is scheduled for December 10th, 2017. More information can be found at http://www.cityofirvine.org/animal-care-center/home-holidays.
